Help Restore the Park and Playground at Rio del Mar Elementry

Let's rally together to create an incredible new Rio del Mar Park space! Imagine a safe and dynamic play environment for our kids and families, free from flooding and hazards.

With the enthusiastic backing of the School, District Superintendent, District Supervisor, and Rio Del Mar Parent Alliance, the group is eager to partner with the district and county to bring this vision to life.

Together, our community can overcome the funding challenge and achieve an amazing and ADA-accessible playground everyone can enjoy. Help make it happen!

Ongoing Projects

The Rio del Mar Improvement Association has been actively involved with local Boy Scout Troops, community members, the State Parks department, and other governmental agencies to successfully complete landscape projects, including the care and planting of the Esplanade and  Roundabout palms and ground cover.

The association's ongoing work includes landscaping and maintaining Rio del Mar Blvd medians at Deer Park Shopping Center and Sumner Drive, as well as Treasure Island and Spreckles Drive.

Ongoing landscaping and maintenance locations include:

  • Rio del Mar freeway exit at the Arco gas station

  • Rio del Mar Blvd traffic islands at Deer Park Shopping Center

  • Rio del Mar Blvd at Sumner Drive island

  • Treasure Island and Spreckles Drive

  • Esplanade and the Flats roundabout

Hidden Beach Park improvements are also underway, including a new ADA-compliant porta potty, a new ADA-compliant and dog-friendly water faucet, and refurbished tables, which have already been completed.

RDMIA has led fundraising and worked with SC County Parks to complete these improvements, and additional substantial upgrades are planned pending budget allocations.
